Just a few weeks ago, I sat in on a youth group lesson where the teacher talked about all of the reasons we can <i>know</i> that the Bible is true, yadda, yadda, yadda. I understand what the youth leader was trying to do. Help the kids find confidence. But denying the possibility of doubt is no kind of confidence at all. It's just a lie. Love the Tolkein quote! He's one of my heroes. I agree with Gordon.
